So tell me, how should my UK application look like?

Hello everyone!

Last week I told you how I decided to change my life. Today I will tell you, what I did to get accepted.

I decided to study in the UK, yes. My family approved it, yes. Did I know anything specific about the application process? Not at all.

As I mentioned, I crossed the path with Unilink, a study in the UK agency on Gaudeamus university fair in November 2015. After they convinced me (wasn't hard at all when I'm thinking about it now) to study in the UK, I decided to use their help in the whole application process. My next step was attending a seminar in Prague.

There I found out two important things: how the application process works and that my mum is an amazing supportive woman. The classic application is composed of a personal statement and reference. The personal statement is basically you talking about yourself in the most narcissistic way possible. What you achieved, what are your hobbies, how good you are in English, what are your plans for future and what surprised me the most - what grades are you expecting to get from your Maturita exam.

After you write everything down and you are happy with what you said about yourself, it's time to ask your teacher to write you a reference. Here comes the funny part, because forcing you teacher to write 300 words about how excellent student you are when in reality most of the time you don't pay attention and don't excel at all? Haha, no worries, we've all been there. Teachers usually don't write bad references. They want you to be successful, believe me.

And when you have these two things, your application is more or less finished. Sure, you need to fill some crucial documents, but if you are not going to attend any unique course (e.g. law or interior design), it's all the university will want from you.

You can then send this 'application pack' to five different universities.

Deadlines are around 15th January and universities take about six weeks to respond. After they decide to accept you, you get a so-called Conditional offer. To make your offer Unconditional, you need to do your Maturita exam and meet their expectations for the average grade from it.

And after you successfully finish the Maturita exam, there is nothing more to do rather than enjoy your extended summer holidays and pack your suitcase for your future life.

Pretty easy, huh?
